Alison Bennett Prestwood

Alison Prestwood joined the law firm of Puryear, Newman & Morton, PLLC, in 2010.   She graduated first in her class from the Nashville School of Law in 2009.  Alison was born in Montgomery, Alabama, and graduated from The Montgomery Academy.   After earning her Bachelor of Music in Theory and Arranging from the University of Alabama, she moved to Atlanta and began a career as a studio and live performance bass player.  She also taught bass in the jazz studies program at Georgia State University.

In 1993 Alison moved to Nashville, where she toured with various artists—including Rodney Crowell, Patty Loveless, Shawn Colvin, and Olivia Newton-John—and found her place among Nashville’s busiest studio musicians.  She has been nominated four times for Bass Player of the Year by the Academy of Country Music (ACM).  She served on the Board of Directors of the Nashville Chapter of the Recording Musicians Association in 2003 and 2004.

Alison’s law practice covers a wide range of civil matters, with current emphasis in entertainment law, probate matters, civil litigation and business formation.  She has lived in Franklin for twelve years.
