MORTON RECEIVES PRESIDENT'S AWARD AT LAW DAY CELEBRATION

As part of its annual Law Day celebration, the Williamson County Bar Association gave several awards as it celebrated its charter's 20th anniversary.

Judge Timothy Easter received The Liberty Bell Award that recognizes an individual whose community service has strengthened the system of freedom under law by promoting a better understanding of and respect for the Constitution and laws.

For his work on the 21st Judicial Drug Court, which covers Williamson, Hickman, Perry and Lewis counties, Judge Easter was given the highest honor bestowed by a bar association on Law Day.

Bob Plummer received the Professionalism Award that recognizes the Williamson County Bar Association member who exemplifies the highest level of professionalism in the practice of law throughout the preceding year.

The Public Safety Officer of the Year Award recognizes a full-time, emergency-related employee who is employed within Williamson County who either by an exceptional single deed or through a continuous course of conduct demonstrated the highest professional and personal standards and respect for the system of emergency work.

This year, an entire team was named for the honor. The City of Franklin's Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force was given the honor for its excellent work and for its educational campaign across the county. Recognized were Sgt. Eric Anderson and detectives Becky Johnson, Stephanie Cisco, Brent Kniss and Tamara Smith.

For his work on the WCBA's High School Mock Trial Competition, Chas Morton received the President's Award that recognizes a lawyer of the Williamson County Bar Association who has made a significant contribution to the legal community and bar association and who exemplifies the finest characteristics of a lawyer.

Peggy Anderson received the Administrative Professionalism Award recognizing a person working in the legal field, in a non-attorney capacity, whose primary job responsibility involves providing staff support to an attorney, a group of attorneys, a law firm or a law-related entity, public or private.
